Description
SERIES BACKGROUND: In addition to being known for their fury, hurricanes are also famous for their unpredictable nature. That unpredictability usually involves determining which way a hurricane is going to go before meteorologists decide theyβve got it figured out. In my recent encounter with Hurricane Idalia while in Savannah, Georgia (USA), I experienced a different kind of surprise caused by the hurricane resulting in some unexpected photograph after it split what I believe was an oak tree in half.
Large limbs fell on electric power lines, evergreen shrubs, and a backyard shed. As amazed as I was by the destructiveness, I was equally amazed by the images I captured. I describe them as Abstract Nature Photography, Nature as Found Art, Nature as Artist, or Gifts of the Hurricane.
THIS THRID GIFT OF THE HURRICANE came in the form of Georgia Power technicians who arrived the day after Hurricane Idalia and handled the daunting task of cutting fallen limbs off power lines without slicing into the lines themselves, even though the electricity would not come back on until later. The one seen here is in the extended bucket of a utility truck. The image itself is actually a sepia blend of photography and digital painting that I feel captures the immense challenge and Earth drama of the moment.

Kudos, Aberjhani........am following all three (so far) in this Series, each an astonishing event only NATURE can create, and well caught these images, and, so interesting your Series Background/ to read, and, be reminded of our need to respect Nature's Powers as higher than our own, and not just for desperate damage, of course. FAV, regards, bonne chance vs 'the elements' !!......VIVA
