To many, the classic American author Flannery O’Connor remains a kind of spiritual mystery because the literary work she accomplished was so exceptional despite the difficulties imposed by a chronic illness and other setbacks in her life. How those factors may have further enhanced her creative spiritual genius rather than diminish it is among the possibilities explored in the pages of “Greeting Flannery O’Connor at the Back Door of My Mind.” This Silk-Featherbrush Artstyle painting presents a contrast in levels of awareness often experienced by people whose imaginations are infused with a strong sense of spiritual devotion. Like some writers, poets, visual artists, musicians, etc. The shadowy green and brown left side of the diagonally-divided canvas might be compared to time spent in meditation or contemplation. About Aberjhani
After being born and raised in the southeastern United States, I spent many years, while pursuing my education and serving in the U.S. Air Force, traveling around America and the world. Much of that story is told in my recent book releases, Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah. Artwork by me is featured on the cover of both books. My last 3 public exhibits were at the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport Art Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, USA, and during a cultural arts event in the historic Lafayette Square in the same city.
