In her announcement of Viva Magenta 18-1750 as Pantone’s Color of the Year 2023, Leatrice Eiseman described it as: “…a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.”The question I had to ask myself was how close could I get to duplicating that precise shade? Also, could I apply it effectively to the heart motifs, techniques, and different series I’ve been working on? It’s been difficult to tell exactly how close I’ve gotten to shade number 18-1750 but I’ve had fun trying to match it and contribute to what Eiseman calls the Magentaverse. In the image presented here, Majestic Magenta with Heart of Gold, different shades of the color illustrate an abstract heart in the center section further defined by streaks of white and black. About Aberjhani
After being born and raised in the southeastern United States, I spent many years, while pursuing my education and serving in the U.S. Air Force, traveling around America and the world. Much of that story is told in my recent book releases, Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah.
