FAA Member Uses Writing Platform To Shine Spotlight On Different Artists

Well-known as both an artist and a writer, Fine Art America member Aberjhani recently used his talents to shine a spotlight on fellow artist Rocky Bettis with an article titled: Reinterpreting Shakespeare’s Face, The Second Coming of Artist Rock Bettis. The article, said Aberjhani, was as much a surprise to him as it became to visitors to his Bright Skylark Literary Productions website.

“I liked the idea of writing an article about Mr. Bettis’s new art exhibit when I heard about it,” the author-artist said, “because we met once before, during the pandemic, when his work was on display in a carport in a backstreet lane in downtown Savannah. I wrote a short blog piece about that encounter, and now four years later I was being told his work was hanging in a major coffee shop gallery. That’s pretty amazing.”

In a way, this recent article has become part of a tradition for Aberjhani Art Association. He has in the past composed articles, essays, poems, and...

2023 Color Of The Year Announcement Inspires Tribute To FAA Artist

When he received the announcement that the Pantone Color Institute had selected as its color of the year a tint described as Viva Magenta 18-1750, artist and author Aberjhani thought it was a tribute to popular Fine Art America artist VIVA Anderson. He later learned there was no connection between the two.

However, certain characteristics used to describe the color matched many of his reflections on Anderson’s art. That was reason enough, he decided, to create his own tribute to the artist on FAA at url: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/viva-magenta-skies-with-ruby-red-apple-heart-aberjhani.html?newartwork=true .

“I wasn’t sure I agreed with the Pantone Color Institute’s descriptions of their chosen color as ‘audacious, full of wit and inclusive of all,” said Aberjhani, “but I was sure I often felt that way when viewing different works by VIVA Anderson are reading her inspiring comments on art created by others. Giving Thanks For Small Things Theme Of FAA Artists New Series

Fine Art America artist Aberjhani, whose work is currently on exhibit at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, recently launched a new online art series titled “Finding Shelter in a Circle of Gratitude.” Although the series is making its debut just in time for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, the artist says it is about more than that.

“A lot of the motivation behind this series came from the fact that we’ve been battling the COVID-19 pandemic for almost two years now and finally found ways to slow its spread and decrease deaths from it. Catastrophic mass casualty events always reminding us of how important little things like showing each other common courtesy, or taking notice of a beautiful sunset or sunrise, can be. The pandemic has been especially convincing.”

The individual titles of the three works in the new series are: 1) “A Bouquet of Humanity”; 2) “Existential Heartbeat”; and 3) “Meanwhile Back on Earth.” They can be found...

Greeting Flannery OConnor At Fine Art America

Just as the work of classic American author Flannery O’Connor has come under renewed scrutiny and criticisms, author-artist Aberjhani has posted on Fine Art America (FAA) several new prints reflecting on O’Connor’s legacy and his own forthcoming book on the acclaimed writer.

O’Connor has long been celebrated as well as criticized for highly-accomplished literary works which boldly examine such social concerns as religious faith, racial tensions, and cultural values. Employing Art To Break The Gridlock Of Hate

The Silk-Featherbrush art collection increased in quantity and value with the addition of two new prints dedicated to ending the hate crimes which have continued to needlessly destroy innocent lives. New Art Celebrates Music Icon And Holiday Traditions

Artist Aberjhani expanded his online art catalog with a multimedia portrait tribute to the iconic American jazz singer Nancy Wilson and a landscape canvas of a Christmas tree scene done in his original Silk-Featherbrush style. The portrait of the songstress is titled "These Colors I Hear When Nancy Wilson Sings Turned to Blue" and the Christmas landscape is called "Gathering Around the Tree of Our Shared Humanity Number 1."

Ms. Wilson is a multiple Grammy Award-winning performer whom the artist has always admired but whose music, he says, had a considerable influence on him in 2018. Describing that experience on the portrait's product page, he noted the following:

"The song 'Turned to Blue' is based on a poem by the late great author Dr. Maya Angelou (1928–2014), and originally titled "My Life Has Turned to Blue," so it is no wonder that her genius plus that of Nancy Wilson's cast a kind of spell over me. What form the results of that spell might take was not...
