Hurricane Ian made it impossible for me not to be concerned about it because the storm threatened several locations where I have lived, worked, or gone to school for extended periods. As a result, the abstract artworks titled “Then Along Came Hurricane Ian Number 1” and “Then Along Came Hurricane Ian Number 2” began taking form while the extreme weather event unfolded.
Canvas number 1 is a visualization of the double-terror that came from people anticipating the hurricane’s destructive force and then actually experiencing it. The second canvas is an acknowledgement of the devastation combined with a polychromatic celebration of humanity’s ability to set aside divisive grievances during emergencies and exercise unity. About Aberjhani
I was born and raised in the southeastern United States, then spent many years, while pursuing my education and serving in the U.S. Air Force, traveling around America and the world. Much of story is told in recent book releases like Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah.
