Description
“Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand…”
––Don McClean (from the song VINCENT)
As much as some might wish it otherwise, the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) is probably as famous for cutting off his left ear one Sunday in December 1888 as he is for stylistic innovations and passionate devotion to artistic integrity. The incident reportedly occurred during a bout of “madness” following a dispute with his friend, French artist Paul Gauguin (1848-1903).
This is the 3rd of my tribute to Van Gogh Series. The others titled Another Starry Starry Vincent Van Gogh Social Distance Night Numbers 1 & 2. The previous tribute images are best described as Silk-Featherbrush Artstyle paintings. “The Liberation of Vincent Van Gogh’s Left Ear” is a mixed media fine art digital painting closer to the Dutch artist’s famous style of impressionism. I describe it as such because the hands-on physical labors required to produce the final results of such a painting requires a lot more than the digital element. I wanted to suggest more than imitate with the glowing blue sky, the yellow, rose, purple, and green fields beside the distant shadows.
The polychromatic free-floating ear is intended as a nod to spiritual surrealism. It in no way mocks Van Gogh’s suffering but represents a symbol of his determination to gift the world the best of his talent before that suffering convinced him to leave everything behind.

Here I see the fire in self while seeing self in reflection under Holy protections in the mirror of consciousness to realize the purpose of soul that can only be performing soulfully, and that cannot be relatable anywhere to harms! :)
