Description
The arrangement of clothes on racks outside the store and hanging off walls in this fine art digital photograph is not something that was done with my camera. The display apparently is one of the techniques used to let customers see what the “American Gift Shop” located on River Street in Savannah, GA (USA), has to offer on the inside while also making it possible to browse outside at prescribed social distances.
The visual effect gets your attention partly because of the creative arrangement but also because of the colorful background. The different-shaded bricks and stones of the wall combined with the green-blue window shutters, red awnings, and winding black iron staircase make it possible to view the entire scene as an art installation.
Tourism is a major industry in Savannah and shops like this one, which has been around since 1991, have had to adapt to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Creativity has become an important resource to help them stay afloat. (Georgia Day 2021 Series, American Towns)
