Description
“Skylark, have you seen a valley green with spring
where my heart can go a journeying
over the shadows and the rain
to a blossom covered lane?”
--Song lyrics by Johnny Mercer from SKYLARK
In his classic song titled SKYLARK, reportedly written for entertainment legend Judy Garland, composer and Savannah, Georgia, native Johnny Mercer asked this musical question: “Is there a meadow in the mist/ Where someone’s waiting to be kissed?” With my “Secrets of the Meadow in the Mist” prints, I would like to propose the answer is yes. Not only is there a meadow in the mist but it is teeming with a lush overgrowth of blossoming plants and varied forms of winged, crawling, and sometimes luminous life.
THIS SECOND EDITION of “Secrets of the Meadow in the Mist” is also the 50th Authentic Silk-Featherbrush Artstyle painting offered at FAA. I allowed myself some liberties with this image by providing a more easily recognizable frame of greenery and large melon-colored floral blossoms with more abstract expressionistic constructions in the bottom and tops centers. Both figures do correspond to specific ideas, especially the larger polychromatic double-heart above the smaller pale pink and salmon figure. I’m mostly inclined to invite viewers to decide what they see in this section. There are those who say it is the lovers sung about in SKYLARK. Some might describe it as an angelic presence and still others see it as a simply colorful bouquet of violet, magenta, green, yellow, rose, orange, blue and pink.

Thank you very much for the congrats and for your shared insights VIVA. I shied away from the suggestion of "a gathering of angels" but am glad you did not.
