In one study for this art-piece, I forced certain details to look more precise. But that seemed to take something away from the essence of vibrant collective exuberance which "Savannah River Folks Christmas Party" is intended to communicate.
A lot of towns in the United States tend to go all out when it comes to decorating downtown areas for the winter holidays, especially Christmas. In recent years, Savannah, Georgia (USA), has excelled in this regard to encourage folks to spend the holidays down South rather than traveling North for the kind of scenery and creative decorations associated with holiday festivities. With a giant Christmas tree placed near the center of the main shopping street (Broughton), lamp posts from the east end of the street to the west decorated with shiny garlands, storefronts blazing colorful displays and lights, and businesses on River Street just a few blocks away adding to the amazing am...
After being born and raised in the southeastern United States, I spent many years, while pursuing my education and serving in the U.S. Air Force, traveling around America and the world. Much of that story is told in my recent book releases, Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah. My last 3 public exhibits were at the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport Art Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, USA, and during a cultural arts event in the historic Lafayette Square in the same city.
