Artist's Description
This is one of the images I had created exclusively for my INCANDESCENT WONDER book of art and poetry but recent photographs and videos of wildfires in Australia convinced me the time to share it is now. It is done in the Silk-Featherbrush style I've been experimenting with for some time now. I believe it captures fairly well the sense of people and wildlife facing flaming destruction while also holding onto hopes for survival and recovery. The poetic term 'Ode' is used in the title to confirm the beauty that has been lost but which under the right conditions could flourish again. Like millions who watched the 2020 broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards I was deeply moved by actor Russell Crowe's statement, read on his behalf by actress Jennifer Aniston, informing viewers he could not be there to accept his award because he was trying to protect his family from the raging inferno. About Aberjhani
After being born and raised in the southeastern United States, I spent many years, while pursuing my education and serving in the U.S. Air Force, traveling around America and the world. Much of that story is told in my recent book releases, Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah. Artwork by me is featured on the cover of both books. My last 3 public exhibits were at the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport Art Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, USA, and during a cultural arts event in the historic Lafayette Square in the same city.
