Description
Although we’re still a long ways from being able to say the COVID-19 pandemic is over, a lot more people can travel more safely and comfortably this 2021 holiday season than in the year 2020. This artwork, “Landscape for a Dream Fulfilled,” is a celebration of long-delayed reunions finally enjoyed. That’s a pretty big deal for those looking forward to such events as: Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Day,
The imagery and palette for this Silk-Featherbrush Artstyle print acknowledges two important things. In the canvas’s upper half, the looming clouds of red, in this instance, symbolize the coronavirus itself while the bursts of sun-colored yellow and violet indicate the ongoing battle against it. Anti-vaxxers and those protesting against mask mandates have made it clear that human choice and conduct is as crucial to ending the pandemic as the science of vaccines.
In the lower half of the image are two shining figures determined to celebrate love and joy in the face adversity. They move steadily through an atmosphere of uncertainty represented by surrounding shadows of indigo and dark blue. Their hopefulness and resilience are strengthened by brightly-shaded flowing fields of green.
