“Josephine Baker Stardust Silhouette” is the fourth image in the JOSEPHINE BAKER’S LOVE AFFAIR WITH FREEDOM Series. The differences between it and the third art piece are very obvious, but both were inspired by Rudolph Suroch’s 1950 black and white photograph of Baker taken in Havana, Cuba. The original B&W image is categorized as a promotional one in the public domain. “Josephine Baker Stardust Silhouette” uses an experimental creative approach. It presents a mirror image white outline of Baker and glowing candles framed against a dark background of glittering bronze, gold, and black. It is one way of visualizing the idea what it means to be an outstanding historic figure even among other celebrated icons.

Much of story is told in recent book releases like Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah. Artwork by me is featured on the cover of both books. My last 4 public exhibits were at the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport Art Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, USA, and during a cultural arts event in the historic Lafayette Square in the same city.
