Fine vision, Aberjhani, and very topical, now....forget military self-indulgent military parades costing billions... Fix the Bridges!.."fv..VIVA

Aberjhani replied:

Can't argue about the need to fix bridges collapsing all over the world. Thanks for commenting VIVA Anderson.

Thank you Jeff. This underpass is almost like something from a different time.

Appreciate that very much Arthur. I'm told the area flooded a few days ago and drivers again got stuck trying to ease their cars through the water.

Thank you Geraldine and Wes. This overpass always seems to me like a throwback from another era, maybe because I lived in the area as a boy and used to get a kick walking beneath it when a train was rolling overhead.

Another well framed and presented image, Aberjhani, and that's a good idea for commissioned graffiti! L/F

Artist's Description

This is the southern view of the Henry Street Underpass. You can see the heavy growth of shrubs surrounding and the slope in the street described for the first print. To the bottom left of the steel "X" you can see one the drains that tend to work very slowly when rainstorms hit and cause the street to transform into a small river.

Large wall spaces like this and the one facing it are hard for graffiti artists to resist. It would nice if city officials were to authorize some of the more talented graffiti artists around to cut loose and beautify the space with some of their most imaginative images.

As with the Henry Street Underpass Number 1 photograph, this one was also shot in color using an applied sepia filter to accent the antique-like design of the historic underpass itself. The mixed-media abstract art used for the frame is similar in style to the first's but different in color scheme and pattern.

About Aberjhani

Aberjhani

I was born and raised in the southeastern United States, then spent many years, while pursuing my education and serving in the U.S. Air Force, traveling around America and the world. Much of story is told in recent book releases like Greeting Flannery OConnor at the Back Door of My Mind and Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah. Artwork by me is featured on the cover of both books. My last 4 public exhibits were at the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport Art Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, USA, and during a cultural arts event in the historic Lafayette Square in the same city. I am currently completing an artbook project on different challenge which humanity has been facing in the 2020s, with text contributions from writers around the world. My...
