Thank you very much Carol. I couldn't let the year 2020 end without paying tribute to the victims and heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Greatly appreciate that Danny. Like you, I'm holding out hope "the ship can be righted in the near future."

A beautiful tribute to all of the workers having to put their lives on the line to serve others whether as a health care worker or clerk or driver, etc. Maybe the ship can be righted in the near future. However, how many more must die until that happens?

So beautiful, this Remembrance, dear Aberjhani, and on the smallest scale, my heartfelt, 'knowing' , sorrow for your personal losses, and, kudos for this Tribute on a world scale, too. The unseen !! enemy lurks among all of us....I give thanks for so far avoiding the cost, others have borne, and Celebrated here, so beautifully. Thank you, Aberjhani, for so much , for raising awareness, compassion............fav/VIVA

Aberjhani replied:

Much gratitude for your kind insightful comments VIVA. Many of us have indeed been very lucky to escape the wrath of the pandemic thus far but too many obviously have not.

Artist's Description

By definition, the word “flotilla” refers to a fleet of ships. In regard to “Flotilla of Candles,” it is used metaphorically to describe hundreds of thousands of candles lit and set afloat in honor of those whose lives have been lost to COVID-19. When news broke that the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the United States had surpassed 200,000, and the number of losses worldwide hit more than 1 million, we were reminded all over again of the grim realities of the year 2020. Some of us living in classified “Red Zones” and “Orange Zones” have never had a chance to forget them.

In addition to serving as an acknowledgement of people lost around the world to the pandemic, “Flotilla of Candles” is a tribute to those who have battled ceaselessly against it. We know well enough about the medical professionals who have repeatedly put their lives at risk since the peak of the outbreak. In fact, any number have died from coronavirus themselves and lost both loved o...

I am currently completing an artbook project on different challenge which humanity has been facing in the 2020s, with text contributions from writers around the world. My...
