Description
"I weep for the twilight when your starlit heat
destroyed the chains of my hungry desperation.
Make me again: what your dream said I was––
a coconut-heavy island on fire with mysteries of you."
--from poem "Tybee Island Love Storm" published in The River of Winged Dreams
"Evening in the Cove Where Love's Fire Burned Bright" started out as an attempt at a natural-styled seascape with a line of flowers in the foreground. The closer I got to what I thought was my goal the more I realized I was actually leaning toward something which combined realistic naturalism with abstraction. I wanted enough form to indicate environmental context but also a strong enough sense of fluidity to evoke essence and atmosphere beyond physical boundaries. Color was important because of the range of emotions and the contrasting elements involved.
Although the above quotation is from a poem in The River of Winged Dreams, the artwork is another potential page for the art-and-poetry INCANDESCENT WONDER book project.
