As stated in the description for image product pages, this collection is intended to reflect the multi-faceted uniqueness of Asbury Church as a structure and as a creative spiritual community. I first ventured through the doors of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church in Savannah, GA (USA) several years ago. It happened when a friend told me members were staging their annual "God on Broadway" holiday production as part of their Sunday service. That sounded strange enough to make me very curious. So I went with her to check it out and sure enough the minister, Rev. Billy Hester, had skillfully interwoven into his sermon a Broadway-styled musical presentation of the Biblical story of Joseph and his brothers. It was impossible for a creative-minded person like me not to be impressed. I have since visited on different occasions, including during a screening of "Backs Against the Wall," a biopic on the life of civil rights icon Dr. Howard Thurman.
